SOS Surrey Hampshire Border is an empowering resource for people going through divorce and family break up, offering free legal, financial and relationship advice, parenting coaches, holistic healers – all in one convenient place to drop in and experience on a Thursday evening.
The first host of the SOS Surrey/Hampshire border Road Show venture is the Collaborative Family Law Group, a group of forward thinking family lawyers and financial planners committed to helping separating couples resolve their difficulties in a dignified manner. Their aim is to offer an alternative to the traditional contested method through the courts.
The group includes 9 family lawyers, all of whom are collaboratively trained and 2 financial planners who are accredited by Resolution as divorce specialists. The lawyers are all members of Resolution and trained in alternative methods of dispute resolution, whilst the financial planners do extensive work with divorcing couples, looking at the financial impact of divorce and pension splitting. Where appropriate they can also provide lifetime cashflow modelling for either party either before or after the settlement process.
Ian Taylor, a spokesman for the group, said it was exciting to be the first group in the UK to directly host a local SOS Roadshow event: “I think the SOS Roadshow is an excellent idea, both to promote our services and those of other high quality professionals in the area. More importantly, it raises awareness of the positive benefits of dealing with relationship breakdown in an adult, non confrontational, way. The benefits of this approach for separating couples, and particularly for their children, are huge.”

the slow death
July 6, 2010 by Suzy
I understand now how fighting and bitter fury
can provide such a warm cloak
a haven
from the tepid drawn out agony
of the slow death
The silent sickening wave through the diaphragm
that sticks in the throat
and lingers pathetically
deep down into the stomach refusing to budge
Memory flashes
the knowledge
that this present bereavement of another love lost without rhyme or reason
is the aftershock of that other heart
ripped to shreds years before
An echo
that refuses to quite extinguish.
Forever.
Rage-on, the violent protests and vanquish all integrity
and moderation. It is comforting to feel anger, and to hate.
Or there is this other way which I call love
Love will prevail any storm
and turn a broken heart into one that can receive love once more
But first the long slow death
must furrow through my soul
And I wonder what debris will remain
to call ‘me’, and all that may be left to glow
in the ashes
is love itself
